Window Cleaning is hard work, that is for sure. I like your pictures that demonstrate how you clean them, but I really like how you use furniture polish to lubricate the windows after you wash them. It definitely works!

Keith,
With vinyl single hung style windows the springs fall out of place readily, and putting the springs back into place will be a part of normal maintenance.
As far as the operation of removal, depending on how tightly the window was installed this step may be kind of tricky. You first pop out the two clips and that retains or grabs on to the springs when you open the window. Then the window is opened past the clip retention area an this should make the sash a little loose in the frame. The sash should be loose enough to move to the side, far enough to clear the other side of the frame as you tilt the sash and pull the side that has cleared the frame out toward you. If the window was hung properly there should be enough room to do this with relative ease. If, however the window was hung on the tight side, you may need some screw drivers and putty knives to do a little gentle prying.....
Good luck and let me know if this answers your questions!

I have been searching for some pics like this to figure out how to get my windows to slide more smoothly or to reattach the long track that was our on a few of my windows. I figured out that if you open the bottom sash all the way up I can get the track to reset into place. At least I hope that is how it works.

But I am unsure of how to get the window out for cleaning.

You show the clips in the upper track but do you pull both of them out with a screwdriver or something to get the springs to be retained? Just having a bit of trouble following it.

Any additional help would be appreciated.

thanks for the tips.

Yes I do Don. I have seen large chunks deteriorate from the surface of comp shingles after laundry detergent was applied. Most of the time the soap doesn't sit on the surface very long and the damage that can be noticed is subtle. If you accelerate the deterioration the surface of your 30-year roof by 4-5 years you usually won't be able to notice this until the roofing is at the end of its life.

I haven't heard of any difference in brand moss killer, and if liquid or powder is better. I personally use the liquid and I use a sprayer to squirt the upper roof from the lower sections.
